PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA, October 22, 1999 — Black Box Corporation (NASDAQ:BBOX) today announced a merger with Koncepts Communications, Inc. Established in 1982 in Westbury, New York, privately held Koncepts provides technical design, installation, and maintenance services for premise cabling and related products to customers in the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut “tri-state” area. Annual revenues of Koncepts approximate $6 million.
This is the twenty-first merger since January 1998 and the seventh of Fiscal Year 2000 as Black Box continues to expand its worldwide technical support service offerings.
Commenting on the merger, Fred C. Young, Chief Executive Officer of Black Box Corporation, stated, “Koncepts is a great addition to the rapidly expanding Black Box Network Services. They have a high level and diversified field of expertise. With the size of Koncepts’ marketplace, the opportunity for growth is significant.”
David J. Mahler, President of Koncepts Communications, said, “My entire staff is very excited to be teaming up with the clear leader in technical support services. The Koncepts/Black Box Team will now be able to provide our customers a complete turn-key solution. This transaction is being accounted for as a purchase. The purchase price has not been disclosed.
